TAHUNANUI HOUSE

Laid back in the suburbs - This house mixes grunty structure with expansive glass and light weight cladding to provide a comfortable and relaxed setting for family life. Concrete walls and floor at ground level, absorb the solar energy admitted through the large windows creating a warm solid base for the upper level. Upstairs - the open plan, the white walls, the sliding doors and high level glazing work together to create a warm, light and airy living space.

Uninterrupted views to the west and a large deck to the north extend the living beyond the walls and connect them with the pool and private garden below. Steel beams, laid back to the roof angle, support the wide roof overhangs which temper the amount of low angle sun entering the house and provide shade for the generous outdoor living area - all without compromising the lightness of the interior.
