New House Spring Creek

This house is situated at the edge of a Marlborough vineyard overlooking "Spring Creek" . The house is placed on a rock retained platform built up to the level of the creek's stop bank. The concept is based around Four interconnecting wings shaped to create a low lying design that fans out to respond to both Spring Creek to the north side of the building site and the vineyard to the south.

Materials include exposed concrete floors and walls with cedar and plywood used both inside and out. Generous north facing glazing makes use of the suns passive heating of the exposed concrete, backed up with solar heated hot water pipes within the concrete floor.

The lighting will be locally designed and made LED (light emitting diode) lights.
